Anyway, I thought the running was simply a way to stay in shape for future hikes. Then a significant number of FileMaker developers began posting twitter updates about their running sessions and the program manager that I share a large cube with runs a half marathon out of the blue. So I began having those “what if?” thoughts and this weekend I participated in the first half marathon since 2002.

Wow, look at that view! This is from the parking lot of the race. I’m not sure I would have noticed it but I saw someone else snapping a picture for their memory library.

Thank you Brenda for being my ride, my date, your encouragement and an absolutely wonderful day together!

Bumped into Gretchen, a CAPS Creative coworker from Wizards. I hope you did well and you most certainly finished way before I did!

The starting line!

Brenda snapped this picture about a mile into the race. The course was a weird one that doubled back to the starting line! It is fortunate she caught me here because I think this is about where I went “Beep-Beep” and left the pack behind me in a puff of smoke! (wishful thinking!)

This is about two thirds of the way through the race. I was surprised how much of the course was dirt and not asphalt! I’d say that, at least, 25% of the course was like this, running through various parks.

Not looking too bad after changing into the race shirt. The shirt in my left hand is likely dripping sweat like a mini Pacific Northwest waterfall! All in all a great experience and look forward to participating in this race again!
